Easter Greetings from Broad Street

Dear Broad Street UMC family and friends,

Today is Holy Saturday, the day on which the disciples experienced deep loss and unknowing. In many ways, the sadness and unknowing mirror the condition of the world today. And yet, tomorrow, the Easter celebration is upon us! As we move into Spring, we’re beginning to enjoy days of bright sunshine and warming temperatures, mixed with slightly cooler days of graupel and gray skies. And in all of it, we’re reminded of the words above, from hymn # 302 in our United Methodist Hymnal, Christ the Lord Is Risen Today!

Given the past two years of pandemic living, online worship, and changed traditions, we are more than ready to cast off the sorrow and uncertainty of Good Friday and Holy Saturday and joyfully celebrate the Resurrection Power of the Living Christ, in person! Even in the midst of hope and new life, we remain aware of the pain that still exists in our world in so many ways: the war in Ukraine, new COVID-19 variants, natural disasters, and inexplicable violence near and far. And still, God reminds us that we are already full to the brim with the Easter love and forgiveness of Jesus for a hurting world. On Easter Day, we hope you will join us as we celebrate the power of God in Christ who fills us to overflowing to bring hope to the world.

At this special time of year, many of us find it meaningful to make an additional offering beyond our regular giving to celebrate this wondrous, life-giving Power in our world—an action of gratitude spilling over. Please use this link to make an additional gift toward God’s expansive ministry through Broad Street Church this Easter. As you do, know that your giving will make the life-giving power of Easter alive for others. You can also mail or hand-deliver your donations to the church at 501 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215.

Our Easter morning service will be in-person, as well as online/livestreaming at 11:00 a.m. EDT. Remember to tune in a few minutes before 11:00 so you’re ready for the Prelude to begin at 11:00 a.m. sharp.

We’re looking forward to worshipping with you, in person or virtually, as together we celebrate: Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!

Love,

Pastor John Girard & Pastor Angie Cox
