ANNOUNCEMENTS

It’s the Year of the People!

We’re rethinking our communication! Here’s what you can expect:

  1. weekly Monday morning newsletter called “ICYMI” (In Case You Missed It). It’s designed to be brief and easy-to-read: a quick collection of announcements and highlights from Sunday morning’s worship service the day before—just in case you missed it.

  2. weekly Friday morning email with everything you’ll need for Sunday morning:

    1. Links for Sunday morning’s digital and print bulletins.

    2. Links for Sunday morning’s video streaming options.

  3. monthly newsletter—The Builder—with articles and information about the goings-on around the church, in the committees, and among the ministry teams. You can expect to find a listing of the 2022 Leadership Board members and a description of the Leadership Board’s duties and responsibilities, a monthly article from the pastors, the Amen Corner, and other various articles or submissions about the Church in the heart of the city, with the city in our hearts!

Year-End Financial Standing

At the first Leadership Board meeting of 2022, on January 17th, the Finance Subcommittee shared with the Leadership Board that we finished 2021 well. In fact, congregational giving exceeded our goal by about $8200. While we still ended the year with a deficit, we exceeded our giving goal! And our United Methodist connectional obligations were paid at 100% as well. Well done, good and faithful servants!

Kitchen Update

Planning for the kitchen renovation project has begun! The project implementation team is scheduled to meet on a regular basis starting this month, with construction expected during the second half of this year. Thanks to the generous support of the Broad Street family and our community partners, the Neighbors with a Heart Campaign conducted by the Heart of the City Foundation (HOTCF) was very successful. Adequate funding is available to undertake and complete the renovation. The Heart of the City Foundation (HOTCF) just authorized the release of funds to Broad Street for the initial steps in the project.

COVID-19 Update

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remained high this week, stretching and stressing the health care system in Ohio and across the nation.

Mid-week last week, the infection rate was 259.7 confirmed cases per 100,000 people in metro Columbus. As of Saturday, the rate was 230.4 confirmed cases per 100,000.

When the number of confirmed cases in the Columbus metro area drops to 75 confirmed cases per 100,000 people, the Sunday morning music, worship, and A/V leaders will reconvene to discuss both the feasibility and safety of considering a return to in-person worship.
