Level 2 snow emergency: all worship services will proceed as planned. Please use discretion in deciding whether to drive to church, or remain at home to watch the online live-streaming, to the extent it is available.

Level 3 snow emergency: all worship services will be cancelled for that day.

Volunteers wanted! Help assemble hygiene kits on March 3rd after worship. Throughout January you’ve donated a variety of hygiene kit items. It’ll soon be time to assemble the kits. Sign-up HERE to help assemble. Lunch will be provided. This is a great opportunity to invite a friend to join you, and to meet new volunteers!

February is Black History Month – the annual observance of the history of the African diaspora. Begun as Negro History Week by historian Carter G. Woodson in 1926, it evolved into a month-long recognition in 1976,  with the goal of educating the American people about African American history. It concentrates on the cultural backgrounds and achievements of African Americans. We will celebrate Black History Month in worship at Broad Street recognizing African American history, culture, or traditions related to church music and worship.

Figuring Out Faith with Peter!  This Lent, we are focusing on the life and faith of one of Jesus’ most famous disciples.  In Peter, we see a person who is both steadfast and unsteady, a dear friend and a betrayer, a follower and a wanderer.  In Peter, we often see ourselves.   By following Peter’s journey, we watch the story of Jesus unfold through the eyes of a very normal human trying to figure it all out – just like us!  Wednesday night Lenten Study begins Feb. 21st.  Watch for sign-up information coming soon.

Ash Wednesday Service – February 14, 7:00pm in the Sanctuary.  The sign of the cross, made from the ashes of last Easter’s palm branches, is offered on your hand or forehead, as a sign of our mortality and repentance.  This tradition has a long history in Jewish and Christian worship, and can be a powerful nonverbal and experiential way of participating in the call to repentance and reconciliation leading to the Easter celebration.  The service will include scripture and poetry, prayer and meditation, choir anthems and contemplative Taize music.  Mark your calendar and join us for a moving Ash Wednesday experience.

Young Adults Group is going to the Escape Room of GrandviewFebruary 17, 3:30pm.  Must register in advance at https://bsumc501.breezechms.com/form/9a5321 by Feb. 7th.  Tickets are $30 per person.

New keyless entry system went into effect February 1.  If you, or someone you know, still have church keys, you will need to exchange those for a keyless fob.  Keys can be exchanged Sundays after worship in the Narthex, or by appointment in the church office until February 1st.
