ANNOUNCEMENTS
CRIS (Community Refugee and Immigration Services) Update
Thank you to those who expressed an interest in the CRIS (Community Refugee and Immigration Services) opportunity to help sponsor an Afghan family. Watch your email inbox this week for information about a first meeting.
Manna Café Sponsors
Are you looking for a way to make a difference in a quick and tangible way? Our Manna Café ministry team is looking for sponsors for the March 2, March 16, and March 30 meals. Contact the team at mannacafe@broadstreetumc.net if you’re interested. (“Sponsor” means to provide and/or prepare meals to be served in to-go containers and distributed at the entrance to the church.)
February is Black History Month
No one in American History has addressed more eloquently, or advanced more effectively, the ideals of freedom, justice, and equality than the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. So, in observance of this, we are featuring the sermons of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. throughout the month of February.
Update on Returning to In-Person Worship
The Sunday morning Worship Leaders met this week to discuss the possibility of returning to in-person worship. Many of you know we do not have a central HVAC system. This means we do not have an air exchange system, and that means we have no way of filtering the air here in the Sanctuary, short of opening the windows—which only circulates air rather than filtering it.
So, while all of us are eager to return to in-person worship, we do not feel it is safe to do so for all people yet. But keep watching for updates and know that your pastors are among the most eager to return to in-person worship and are looking forward to seeing your faces and being in your presence as soon as possible.
And Some Exciting News!
The Personnel subcommittee, along with the Bell Choir Director Search Team voted unanimously this week to hire Olivia Sharlow as the new Ringers on Broad Bell Choir Director. Olivia has nearly 30 years combined experience in ringing, teaching, and leading bells. She is energetic, spirited, and excited to assume this new role. Plans for refurbishment and maintenance work on the bells have not changed, and rehearsals will resume as soon as we’re able to return to in-person worship.
