Volunteers wanted! Help assemble hygiene kits on March 3rd after worship. Sign-up HERE to help assemble. Lunch will be provided. This is a great opportunity to invite a friend to join you, and to meet new volunteers!

Fishy Friday dinners during Lent!  This Friday at 6:00pm, meet at St. Margaret of Cortona, 1600 North Hague Ave. in Columbus for an informal evening of dinner and fellowship with friends.  Invite a neighbor to join you for a fun evening!  For menu info to https://stmargaretcolumbus.org/

Election Day Hospitality Volunteers needed for March 19th Primary Elections!  Sign-up for a 2-hour shift to greet voters indoors at the church’s “ramp entrance” (Washington Ave) and direct them to the gymnasium for voting.  Bring a book, ipad/tablet, knitting/crochet/needlepoint, or other hobby to work on while you’re here welcoming neighbors to our building.  The report from previous volunteers is that it is “fun and easy!”  Sign-up on the website at broadstreetumc.net/current-sign-ups

Easter Flowers – Order Easter flowers for the Easter Sunday celebration. Flowers are $10 each and will be a mixture of spring colors. Orders can be placed online at broadstreetumc.net/current-sign-ups or see an usher for a paper form.

Figuring Out Faith with Peter!  This Lent, we are focusing on the life and faith of one of Jesus’ most famous disciples.  In Peter, we see a person who is both steadfast and unsteady, a dear friend and a betrayer, a follower and a wanderer.  In Peter, we often see ourselves.   By following Peter’s journey, we watch the story of Jesus unfold through the eyes of a very normal human trying to figure it all out – just like us!  Wednesday night Lenten Study begins Feb. 21st.  To receive a Lenten devotional, and/or to sign-up for the Lenten study, visit broadstreetumc.net/current-sign-ups

Winter mission collection items.  We’re still collecting items to assemble Hygiene Kits for The Church for All People’s homeless outreach ministry on March 3.  Needed items include: children’s toothpaste and toothbrush, nail clippers, disposable washcloths and/or wipes (infant and adult), hand sanitizer, men’s shampoo and deodorant, ChapStick, Kleenex pocket size packs, adult body wipes, BandAids.  Also collecting children and adult winter coats, hats, mittens, scarves, and new socks.

Because of your generosity, our ministry can prosper and we are most wonderfully refreshed. After a dip in regular giving last summer the Finance Subcommittee had a bit of a panic at year-end, thinking we would miss a balanced budget by 7%. To reach a balanced budget would have included a withdrawal from our savings in order to meet our apportionment obligations. Not ideal but a step we were willing to take if necessary. Imagine our joy and relief to realize that not only did many of you answer the call to increase your giving by 7%, but additional gifts of every size allowed Broad Street to realize a year-end surplus that hasn't occurred in the memory of anyone on the committee. God is so good and God's people are faithful and generous. Thank you!
