Beloved Broad Street Congregation:

As you may have heard at the end of the service last Sunday 4/21, your Personnel Subcommittee has had the joy of meeting Broad Street's newly appointed pastor, the Reverend Lori Reiber!  Reverend Lori will be serving her first Sunday at Broad Street on July 14th, and we can't wait to have her here with us.  Here is a little background info on our new pastor:

Rev. Lori has a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University (1992) in Secondary Education with a concentration in English and a Minor in Speech and Theater. She has a Master of Divinity (2008) from United Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from UTS (2012), as well.

Rev. Lori Reiber is married to Rev. Tom Miller, who will be the new pastor at Kirkersville UMC.  Lori and Tom are a blended family. Lori’s children are Madeline, who is finishing up her first year of residency in Internal Medicine at Duke University in Durham NC, and Michael who is a Chemical Engineer with Batelle here in Columbus. Tom’s son Sam works part time at Columbus State in the library and plans to begin a Masters in Library Sciences at Kent State this fall.

Lori entered professional ministry in 2004 and was ordained as a Deacon in 2012. She has served in specialized ministry with children, youth and adults at Friendship UMC in Cincinnati, Stillwater UMC in Dayton, Concord UMC in Englewood, and South Park UMC in Dayton, as well as as serving as an Adjunct Professor at United Theological Seminary, teaching Christian Education Classes, leading Ministry Formation Groups and Mentoring Doctor of Ministry Students.

In 2017 Lori, felt God calling her to take a next step in her ministry and she began the transition to becoming an elder., and was Ordained as an elder in 2019. She has served at Oakwood UMC in Dayton and as the Senior Pastor at Shawnee UMC in Lima, during these past 3 years.

Along with her church duties, Lori serves the Conference as a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry and the District as co-chair of the District Committee on Ministry. Lori also serves on the UMC Next Team for West Ohio.

Lori has a passion for teaching and leading worship, and enjoys being creative and encouraging people to experience their faith, not just be observers. She loves to meet with people and get to know them, as well as coach others in their calling and gifts for ministry. As well, Lori loves to develop new approaches to church ministry and faith formation, with families and people of all ages.

In her free time, Lori loves to spend time with her family, be crafty, enjoy her dogs (Finny and Josie) and is a budding plant enthusiast (ok, it might be an addiction I share with my kids!).

Please join us in welcoming Reverend Lori with friendly, open hearts (one of the things Broad Street is best at!), and keep her and her family in your prayers during this transition.

Peace ~

Jenni Cahill

Chair of Personnel Subcommittee
