Celebrating and Giving Thanks for PRIDE at Broad Street
Last Saturday was the Central Ohio Reconciling Ministries Pride Festival at Bethel International UMC. This past Saturday was Stonewall Columbus’ Pride Parade. Broad Street participated in both Pride events.
At the Reconciling Ministries Pride Festival we had a booth where children could get their faces painted, adults could find information about our worship services and outreach opportunities, and anyone could pick up stickers, trinkets, and various reminders that Broad Street is a safe place for all people, and that all people are loved by God.
On Saturday at Stonewall Columbus Pride Parade, we joined other churches in marching the 2-mile parade route up High Street to Goodale Park. The route was lined with approximately 500,000 people who saw Broad Street’s name, faces, and message that they are loved by God. No matter what.
Marchers chanted “God loves everyone.” And onlookers wept on the curb as they witnessed the message from this church and others that God loves queer people and their allies.
People wept. It means they’re starving to hear this.
Thank you, good and faithful servants, for all the ways you celebrate the beauty of God’s image in our midst and seek to share that love with others.
You Can Make a Difference!
Looking for a way to make a difference? Stay tuned for a new program coming this fall, making it possible for every single person to do just one thing to make a difference at Broad Street.
Sign-up Opportunities
Sign up for altar flowers, liturgist, or greeter opportunities in the Narthex.
You Can Do Something Sweet
The weekly Wednesday Manna Cafe meal is looking for dessert contributions! Can you donate easily packable items such as cookies, muffins, bars, brownies, or other “handy” desserts? Bring donations to church on Sunday and place them in the freezer or see an usher for help finding the kitchen.
