Shower of Appreciation for Gary Everts

As we concluded Worship yesterday, we took a moment to shower our Director of Music, Gary Everts, with appreciation for the many ways he has shepherded Broad Street’s music program through a long season of Covid and then through our search for a new organist. In many ways, Gary has gone above and beyond, and we are so very grateful.

Reaching Out to the Newman Center Community

Chair of the Personnel Subcommittee, Jon Sadler, shared that Broad Street’s Leadership Board has extended radical hospitality to the community of the Newman Center at The Ohio State University. We do not yet know what may or may not come of the conversations that have already taken place over the past few weeks, but whatever that may be, we know that Broad Street will readily welcome and love any members of this now-displaced worshipping community who may join on Sunday mornings for Worship.

Manna Café Needs Help!

Our minimum weekly cost (even when others provide the main meal) is $165. The Manna Café ministry has a tremendous need for donations of either supplies or monetary funds. If you are interested in contributing, please see Pastor Angie, email mannacafe@broadstreetumc.net, or give online.

We’re Getting Ready for Our CRIS Family!

Our CRIS Team is preparing to welcome a refugee family from Ethiopia on Wednesday, August 3. Most of the furnishings needed have been received—thank you, Broad Street! In these last few days before our family arrives, monetary gifts are especially appreciated as we look to provide them with a full pantry and refrigerator in their new home.

SAVE THE DATE
for the 2022 Central Ohio CROP Hunger Walk!

We have the choice to walk together with other CROP Walk teams from Scioto Audubon Metro Park on Sunday, October 9, or we can do our own hybrid walk as Team Broad Street and choose our own date/route. Sign up at bit.ly/3v30YRw.

Sign Ups for Ushers, Greeters, Liturgists, and Flowers

As a reminder, for anyone (and we really mean anyone) who would like to assist with Worship by serving as a liturgist, an usher or greeter, or by providing flowers to decorate the Altar, we’d love to help you participate! If you would like to serve as an Usher, please contact Shelley Hobson. Sign-ups for liturgists, greeters, and providing Altar flowers are available in the Narthex every Sunday morning. Sign up for Altar flowers is also available online at bsumc501.breezechms.com/form/altarflowers.
